York is a fantastic city all year round with superb attractions to visit. Enjoy the many shops or wander around fascinating streets such as The Shambles with timber buildings dating back to the 13th Century. York is the historic home of chocolate and the annual chocolate festival takes place on Parliament Street with a number of stalls featuring specialist origin chocolates, truffles, eggs, and other chocolate specialities such as cakes, brownies, macarons, chocolate flavoured drinks, liqueurs, and other sweet treats. There is a festival bar and you can watch hands-on demonstrations and take part in chocolate making activities.

This famous music and arts event brings people from afar, dressed in wonderful costumes, to celebrate the town where Bram Stoker visited in 1890 and found some of his inspiration for 'Dracula’. The Bizarre Bazaar Alternative Market features over 100 stalls selling a variety of gothic items.

This morning we travel to Ashbourne, a small and vibrant town surrounded by beautiful Peak District countryside. It boasts numerous independent shops, historic buildings, and delightful cafes and restaurants. After lunch, we take a nostalgic return steam train ride on the Churnet Valley Railway from Froghall Station. Re-live the classic days of rail travel on this rural line through beautiful countryside, with riverside views and the Caldon Canal, known as Staffordshire's ‘Little Switzerland’. Stop at Cheddleton Station, home to a small museum displaying a wealth of railway memorabilia. We then return home by coach.
