Enjoy a trip to the charming seaside resort of Bridlington. This free two-day kite festival has grown to become one of the most popular annual events on the East Yorkshire coast and in 2025 celebrates its 10th anniversary. From enormous flying frogs to sky-high snakes, large leaping lizards to a whopping whale and huge cute teddy bears, dozens of exotic inflatable kites will add a splash of colour to the cliff tops above Bridlington. Watch professional demonstrations and popular parachuting teddy bear drop sessions. There will also be a wide choice of street food, drink stalls, fairground rides, and children’s face painting.

This morning we travel to Ashbourne, a small and vibrant town surrounded by beautiful Peak District countryside. It boasts numerous independent shops, historic buildings, and delightful cafes and restaurants. After lunch, we take a nostalgic return steam train ride on the Churnet Valley Railway from Froghall Station. Re-live the classic days of rail travel on this rural line through beautiful countryside, with riverside views and the Caldon Canal, known as Staffordshire's ‘Little Switzerland’. Stop at Cheddleton Station, home to a small museum displaying a wealth of railway memorabilia. We then return home by coach.

The town centre is almost an island, encircled by the River Severn and home to more than 600 historic buildings including the church where Charles Darwin, who was born in Shrewsbury, was baptised. The intriguingly named Wyle Cop is rumoured to have the longest run of independent shops and is part of the vibrant town centre. This morning we travel to Cumbria arriving at the historic market town of Appleby with some free time for lunch and exploring. This afternoon is the highlight of our trip as we enjoy a journey on the famous Settle to Carlisle railway line, joining the daily diesel passenger service at Appleby and travelling through the picturesque countryside to Settle. This journey is renowned as one of the most scenic in the country travelling through spectacular scenery and across iconic structures such as the Ribblehead Viaduct, measuring 104 metres high, with 24 arches. We return home by coach.
